Okanogan Land Trust welcomes Stacy Shutts as new Executive Director
The Okanogan Land Trust (OLT) Board of Directors and staff welcome Stacy Shutts as the new Executive Director position at the Okanogan Land Trust in August. She succeeds Jerry Debacker, who served as ED since 2015 and is now in the role of Senior Conservationist.
Prior to OLT, Stacy coordinated sustainability initiatives for NASA at Johnson Space Center. She brings her experiences in natural resources management and partnership building for project development.
Stacy has been a naturalist in Alaska, and assisted in wetland research and nonprofit logistics for the Southeast Alaska Land Trust.
While serving in the Peace Corps in Paraguay, Stacy became fluent in Spanish and Guarani, and worked alongside subsistence farmers and landowners. In collaboration with neighborhood committees, they received funding to construct bio-digesters and plant native trees.
Stacy spends most of her time outdoors— climbing, skiing, backpacking, gardening, and wild foraging. She is available to talk with anyone interested in land conservation, or to help someone find their connection to that cause.
