Swimming Upstream: A Celebration of Friends, Family and Fish! May 21st

Please join the Okanogan Land Trust on Saturday, May 21 for SWIMMING UPSTREAM, a celebration of World Fish Migration Day!

The festivities take place at Boat Launch Park in Okanogan, where Salmon Creek flows into the Okanogan River, 1st Ave and Tyee.

 

Enjoy live music and a picnic lunch while GETTING THE SCOOP on Salmon Creek!

Learn why Salmon Creek and other tributaries of the Okanogan River are critical to the survival of Salmon and Steelhead from Ryan Klett and Chris Fisher, fish biologists of the CCT Fisheries Department. See the detailed and careful work that has made Salmon Creek more accessible to and habitable for these endangered species.

Schedule for May 21st:

  9:45 a.m. – Volunteer litter clean-up around the creek mouth

10:30 a.m. – Opening blessing by the Omak Citizens drumming group

11:00 a.m. – Ryan Klett and Chris Fisher, fisheries biologists with the CCT, will lead a tour and presentation about restoration efforts along Salmon Creek, with Q&A

12:00 p.m. – Picnic Lunch provided by OLT

12:30 p.m. – Dessert Auction! Bid on delicious treats to round out lunch
